Most of the tortillas you'll find at the store are loaded with preservatives. Any time I can make something myself, I try to do that instead because then I have a better idea of what is going into the food I'm consuming.
Making tortillas was much easier than I thought it was going to be and they are DELICIOUS.
I found a recipe online and modified it slightly:
Ingredients
2 cups flour
3/4 cup water
2T olive oil
1/2 tsp. salt
Mix together the salt and flour, slowly add in both the water and olive oil until combined into a fairly stick ball of dough. Let the dough rest for 10 minutes. Preheat a cast iron skillet that is LIGHTLY oiled (use an olive oil spray or just brush maybe 1/2T of oil onto the pan).
Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and roll out into 8 inch circles (this was the hardest part tbh, who knew how hard it was to make a circle).
Once the skillet is warm, cook the tortillas for 1 minute on each side or until they are lightly browned and begin to puff up. Serve warm.
